D.13 Multi-Factor Authentication
Per 45 CFR § 170.315, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) “requires users to authenticate using multiple means to confirm they are who they claim to be in order to prove one's identity”. HospiceMD uses multiple layers of authentication in the form of (1) a username and password (which should be known only to the user); followed by (2) the entry of a one-time password (OTP) sent to a different device. The hospice agency’s (customer’s) Administrator is the individual authorized to enter a user’s validation credentials (such as email and phone number). This extra layer of security will help prevent unauthorized access even if one factor (such as a username and password) is compromised.

Costs
HospiceMD customers can license software services by paying a one-time set up fee followed by a monthly service subscription fee. The subscription fees are calculated based upon patient care days. These fees cover ongoing support and service functionality.
Additional Fees
Additional fees cover service add-ons such as Full-Service (billing plus software), E-PrescribeMD, and other value-added services. HospiceMD has partnered with third party vendors in order to provide the full functionality of these services. The additional fees cover the added costs and support of these services.
